| Title | Death of Chatterton |
| Artist | Lupkin, Peter |
| Bio | Year in School: Junior Major: Fine Arts - Painting |
| Inspiration | Thomas Chatterton (1752-1770) was an English poet who pre-empted the pseudo-medieval and romantic writing style. He committed suicide by arsenic at the age of 17 rather than die of starvation through an inability to sell his works. He was an icon of unacknowleged genius for Romantic writers after his death. I chose to modernize this story because I feel it is often overlooked in literature today, and I feel it is an excellent illustration of someone staying true to their principles no matter the cost. -- P.
